Dr Charles Shaw visited Republika Srpska

In the period September 17-20, 2013, under realisation of the Project „Introduction of management system and quality system in health care institutions of the Republic of Srpska“, Charles D Shaw, PhD, MB BS, FFPH, FHSM, respected world and European expert in the field of quality and safety in health care visited Republic of Srpska.

During the three-day visit, dr Charles D Shaw conducted a series of lectures on subject “Deepening our understanding of quality improvement in Europe (DuQuE Project)” for representatives of health care institutions and other professionals of all health care levels in the Republic of Srpska, about the European project aiming to study effectiveness of quality improvement system in hospitals around Europe and to present different experiences in the field of safety and quality improvement in health care.

Along with the guest, the lecturers were Gordan Jelic, MD, Mr Sc, director of the RS Ministry’s of Health and Social Welfare Project Coordination Unit; Radomir Boskovic, of “Bonex Inzenjering”, and Sinisa Stevic, MD, Mr Sc, director of the RS Agency for Certification, Accreditation and Health Care Quality Improvement, who presented already completed previous activities in the field of health care quality and safety improvement in RS as well as future steps in development of the system.

During his stay in Republika Srpska, dr Charles Shaw participated in a pre-assessment certification visit to University Hospital Foca, along with ASKVA’s assessing team, where he had an opportunity to learn more about external certification assessment and certification program in Republika Srpska.
