The Agency for Certification, Accreditation and Health Care Improvement of the Republic of Srpska was founded in 2002 in accordance with the RS Government’s Decree and started its functioning in February 2003. The Agency was supported through the Basic Health Project financed by World Bank credit.
Siniša Stević MD was by the RS Government appointed as director of the Agency.
Besides the director and nine employees, the Agency associates with more than 100 experts engaged when needed.
The Agency was founded as a republican governing institution and in 2010 changed its legal status and has continued functioning as a public institution.
The Agency jurisdiction is defined by the RS Law on Health Care (RS Official Gazette 106/09) and includes:
1. Health care institutions certification,
2. Health care institutions accreditation,
3. Monitoring and evaluation of quality indicators.
